So the big beeping mystery is solved. After days of trying to figure out what the annoying little beeping was....the source was finally detected. It was a semi-warm April Saturday. I was on the computer and my brother in law....who lives next door to me, walked in my house. I paid no attention to him, as usual. It is not odd to have people just walk in considering I live next door to my entire family and they come in and out randomly. Kind of like an Everybody Loves Raymond scenario. Suddenly from the kitchen I heard my kids screaming! They came running into the office to scream that they found the dang blasted beeping noise (and those were their exact words). I couldn't believe it and then I saw the face of my horrible, terrible, awful brother in law. Yes......HE was the source! Well, not actually him, but he was the cause, the pain, the torture. He had put a tiny little device behind my refrigerator. I had checked there a million times because I had pin pointed the spot but he placed it high up back there, very smart and extra menacing of him because I am short, so I never found it. This dastardly device is correctly named an ANNOYATRON. It's only purpose in life is to annoy the heck out of people, which by the way is also my brother in law's same purpose, and both are meeting up to their standards. He came in to move it to a different spot because he hadn't heard me complain about it and he thought it wasn't working. Clearly he doesn't read my blog! The kids spotted him and figured it out. God bless those wonderful kids. So, peace reigns now that the beeping is gone. I will forever here after pay closer attention to my brother in law's whereabouts. And since he doesn't read this blog.....it really was a HYSTERICAL prank! I love you Phil!!!

What the heck is that beeping???
So, 3 days ago a very high pitched soft beeping started somewhere in the kitchen region of my house. It has graced our presence since and hasn't stopped. Its melodious sound beeps every 5 - 8 minutes or so. We have looked everywhere for its source and can't find it. And before you say it.....it isn't a smoke detector, watch, cell phone, ear thermometer, back up ear thermometer (because 1 just wasn't enough), DS, dog anti-bark collar or regular house phone. How do I know??? Because all of those are in my kitchen and I have walked around with them one at a time in my hand till I hear the beeping to see if any of them are it! I have looked under things, over things, around things, between things, beside things and the source remains a secret. Hold on a minute.....it just beeped again! My husband and kids and I will be in the kitchen or family room (which is connected to the kitchen) and we could be talking or watching t.v when suddenly the beeping happens. We all kind of freeze as our eyes roll around in all directions looking as if the beeping is actually going to attack. We are stumped and can't solve this mystery. As the days roll on I am more doubtful that I will. I have designated the beeping as a "time to take my pills" alarm. I don't necessarily have any pills to take....(although, I have been known to take them), but if this beeping is going to be a permanent part of our lives I wanted it to feel useful. So it is the official "time to take my pills" beep. Just beeped again!!! Hold on, let me take my pills! I wonder how long I can last with it. My friend came over today and was driven crazy after 1/2 hour. Just beeped again! Wow, that one was only 3 minutes. I think it's playing games with me. I'll keep you posted if I find anything out. OIT *BEEEEEEEP*

Where are the Christians?????
It seems today that there are more Christian churches than ever. More gigantic buildings filled with more and more people, more conferences attended by more people who say they love God, more small groups or Bible studies where people can learn, more books written by Christian authors flying off the shelves, more Christian music stations, more, more, more! So I wonder......Where are the Christians? Why does it seem that even though this is all true, our Country is morally and spiritually going down hill? How can it be that our churches are busting at the seams yet this phenomena fails to significantly effect our World. Or maybe it is effecting more than we think.......have we just produced a generation of church goers who generally "believe" in God? Are our churces so comfortable that we can come in and out and not be convicted enough to make major changes in our lives? Do we, as Christians, know the Word of God? Are we really studying and learning what the Bible says or are we waiting for someone else to tell us? Are we being the example or waiting for one to show us? Do we say "I just don't understand the Bible, it's too hard for me, I don't know what it is saying". So then instead of reading the Bible we turn to books written by others to guide us! We take everything that book says as true.....and how would we know if it wasn't true when we don't know what the Bible says. I am not suggesting that reading another book may never be helpful or that going to a Pastor with questions is not o.k. These are certainly good ideas but not our only options and more often than not we act as if they are the only choices we have.
So here is the challenge. Let's learn the Word of God. We CAN know what is really in the Bible. Once we are saved the Holy Spirit lives in us and gives us the power and wisdom we need to understand the scripture and live godly lives. How much more effective could we be in our world if we truly committed to studying God's Word, taking it to heart and then bringing it out to others? I can only imagine the impact. The fact is, the biggest impact will be on us. How we live will change and we will feel differently about our Lord and Savior! Check under the "Of Utmost Important" section to see what I'll be studying for the next few months.
